Wondering how to make your dating app bio stand out from the others? My interview in The List highlights how to attract interest and the right type of partner. #onlinedating #onlineprofiles #attraction #datingadvice

Marica writes, “Ah, dating apps. You either love ’em or you hate ’em, but one thing’s for sure: they aren’t going anywhere. While these apps have their downsides, you’ve no doubt heard about people who found “the one” on Tinder.

If you’re ready to put yourself out there, it can feel a little daunting at first — we get it. But to be quite honest, the only thing you really need to spend a lot of time on when you create your profile on any dating app is your bio. Sure, the photos you choose to upload are important too (experts suggest you ditch the selfies, however), but what you tell people about yourself in your bio is what will set you apart. Psychologist and relationship expert Antonia Hall told Bustle that a dating app bio allows you to provide potential partners with critical info — it’s where you can let people know what your relationship goals are, what you’re looking for in someone, and it allows you to give them a little glimpse into who you are. Having a bio that sets you apart will not only make you more attractive to prospective partners but will also ensure that you attract more of the right people.

Read on for some ideas on how to write an awesome bio that will make your profile stand out among the rest — it’s really not as complicated as it sounds, and you can have a lot of fun with it. Ready, set, type.

A bio containing an end goal for why you’re dating might just attract the one

We’ve already established that it’s important to know what you want when you create your dating app bio, but something else you should include is your end goal: do you just want a casual fling, or are you looking for a serious long-term relationship? When your bio clearly states your goals, it makes your profile more attractive to the right people.

“The partner who knows what they want is the partner who’ll get what they want. Far too often, we enter dating without stating our true desires,” relationship expert Susan Winter tells Bustle. She adds that many people mistakenly think that not being too specific about their end goal will help them get more matches. While that might initially be the case, there’s a big chance those matches won’t be what you’re looking for because your end goals don’t align. “Without your end goal clearly stated, your prospective partners will have a greater opportunity to push their agenda,” Winter adds.

She encourages people to be brave enough to say exactly why they are looking to date someone from the get-go. If your main goal is to get married and have kids, state it in your bio. You’ll save yourself a lot of time and disappointment, and your profile will stand out to the right people as a result.”
