THE NEW ERA OF DATING

Thesis

Dating in the 21st century is driven by the standards formed by social media and dating apps that permit free behavior and causal connections with people. Changing romantic priorities has resulted in the evolution of dating into a new, drastically different era of dating in which traditional courtship is rejected.

With this project, our goal was to explore the evolution of dating from old-fashioned, traditional courtship into the modernized method of dating that is present in today’s society.

By conducting research and analyzing different perspectives of the past and present dating culture, we were able to explore the key differences between the old era of dating and the new era of dating and examine the factors that have supplemented and powered the evolution of dating.

In addition, we were able to explore the effects of the New Era of Dating on other aspects of relationships, such as marriage, divorce, and relationship longevity.

MODERN-DAY DATING

The natural human sensations of physical attraction and romantic desire are ultimately a result of human brain chemistry, but the ways in which individuals connect and interact with each other are constantly changing, alongside social norms. With new political movements, changing communication methods, improvements in healthcare, differing life priorities, technological advancements, and other societal factors, romantic relationships and the dating culture are being influenced from all sides of the spectrum.
