Every relationship goes through ups and downs. While being with the person you truly love means the world, sometimes it is important to take time out for yourself and see what life means for you. Being humans, it is impossible to spill happiness into someone’s life when we too can experience loneliness while being in a relationship. Therefore, it is essential that giving space to your partner can help make your relationship healthy and thriving.
“Taking time for ourselves may seem selfish, as though we’re avoiding our partner,” clinical hypnotherapist, author and educator Rachel Astarte, who offers transformational coaching for individuals and couples at Healing Arts New York, told Bustle. “In reality, brief periods of solitude recharge our soul batteries and allow us to give even more to our partners and to the relationship itself.”
Here are 5 reasons why it is important to give your partner space:
No space means more arguments
“I’ve seen individuals create a fight (for no good reason) just as an excuse to get away from a partner who’s engulfing them,” bestselling author and relationship expert, Susan Winter, told Bustle. “That’s your signal to back off and give your mate some space.”
Helps maintain individuality
There are several couples who do things together. But is important to know who you are without your partner that gives meaning to your life. Your partner alone shouldn’t the one thing that defines. in fact, you need to know what your identity is by spending some time apart.
Your partner might need space
Although your partner might be the reason your joys, it is essential to give them space from time to time too that they can also do things that give them happiness. Not one person can fulfill all the happiness in the world and therefore it is important to do the same.
