Why Taylor Swift Skipping Travis Kelce’s Football Games Isn’t The Red Flag You Might Think | The List Feature
Before Taylor Swift’s engagement, the media saw “relationship troubles.” I told The List I saw closeness instead. Here’s how I knew:
Multiple journalists speculated their relationship could have problems, simply because Taylor began missing some of Travis’s games. In some couples, this could indicate growing apart. But I just didn’t read it that way. Here’s why I took a contrarian position, and why things aren’t always what they seem.
Journalist Carissa Jean Mares writes, “It’s a new era for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce as the 2025 NFL season shoves the tight end back onto the field. While fans have gotten to enjoy witnessing Swift’s best and worst game day looks, this season many are noticing a sharp drop in her appearances. Swift made a point to only attend Kansas City Chiefs home games during the 2024 season, and it appears she’s on track to keep the same routine.”
With Swift and Kelce newly engaged and the singer on a break from major touring, many expected to see her in the stands more often. But her absence isn’t a sign of tension. Page Six reports that it’s primarily a security issue, with an insider noting that Swift will only attend games if “she knows the venue intimately,” making Arrowhead Stadium the most likely place she’ll appear.
And while a source told People that Swift “plans to be at as many of [Kelce’s] games as possible,” the couple may still have to navigate stretches of time apart.
Carissa continues, “We at The List reached out to Relationship Expert Susan Winter to see just how the duo can keep up with each other. Winter suggested that “quality of time” would become incredibly important, and offered some juicy tips for the power couple to fully embrace the busy season together.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce can support each other behind the scenes
While it’s easy for many to suggest that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are on the rocks due to a lack of public appearances, according to Susan Winter, author of “Allowing Magnificence,” it might be best for them to spend time alone together. “Intentionally being present,” was at the top of the list of recommendations from Winter.
Winter offered pointers like “Short daily check-ins.” Coupling these with some creative ideas that might speak to what it’s like inside the relationship between Swift and Kelce, Winter suggested they could make playlists for each other. Winter even floated the idea of Swift including some of her own songs, as they “express her unique thoughts and feelings,” and could “create a powerful sense of connection.””
There are numerous ways to stay connected while apart. Check out this article for more ideas to foster an ongoing bond of closeness in the times that you’re not together.
