How We Love: Trophy wives, sugar daddies and cougars — dispelling age-gap relationship myths | WGBH Interview
By Charlie Desjardins and Andrea Asuaje
Age gap relationships routinely experience controversy; confusion, judgment, and assumptions. My interview with WGBH reveals the sociological core of these misconceptions and illuminates the facts.
Huge thanks to WGBH (NPR) Boston for this incredible piece of journalism. It’s always a pleasure to work with producers who have thoughtfully done their homework and enlisted knowledgeable experts, such as my co-presenter, Dr. Lee Kinsey, PhD, LMHC, CST, founder and clinical director of Kinsey & Associates.
My personal experience with age gap relationships has gone the gamut: from vilification, character defamation, and reputational demotion— to bestselling author, relationship consultant, and trusted media expert.
Some modern couples live in societies that allow for a greater interpretation of what a relationship looks like. Yet for others, little advancement in understanding has occurred. There’s still the looming question of their true intentions, and authentic emotions that accompany a healthy partnership.
Thankfully, this interview provides an accurate assessment of age gap love.
