Ryan Reynolds recently joked about wife Blake Lively’s ongoing lawsuit on SNL50. Smart? Cruel? My feature in DailyMail shares the difference between cleaver PR vs. a ‘joke’ at your partner’s expense. #RyanReynolds #BlakeLively #SNL50

On Sunday, fans were taken aback when the couple not only attended the major event—their first public appearance since Lively initiated legal proceedings against her “It Ends With Us” co-star Justin Baldoni—but also joined in an interactive segment with the audience.

In December, Lively sued Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and alleging that he had orchestrated a smear campaign against her. In her lawsuit, she detailed that Baldoni had entered her trailer while she was topless, shown her an explicit video of his wife in labor, and, during an unscripted kissing scene, bitten and sucked on her lips.

Baldoni retaliated by filing a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, and he also sued The New York Times for $250 million. He claimed that the newspaper almost entirely repeated Lively’s unverified, self-serving account while overlooking a significant amount of evidence that contradicted her allegations.

The conflict has escalated further: Baldoni released raw on-set footage and even set up a website displaying documents related to the suit to clear his name, while Lively recently subpoenaed cell carriers in search of additional evidence for her case.

Despite the legal battles, Baldoni, Lively, and Reynolds have all denied the accusations made in the lawsuits. Nevertheless, during the special, Reynolds subtly referenced the controversy by standing up with Lively and saying, “I have a question” while Amy Poehler and Tina Fey were onstage.

Daily Mail journalist Jane Herz writes, “He was asked by Fey, ‘Oh Ryan Reynolds, how’s it going?’ to which the Deadpool star deadpanned, ‘Great – why, what have you heard?’ – in a nod to the months of headlines regarding the troubled production of the summer.

Lively first looked surprised and then smiled at the joke – and it divided fans.

‘If you know anything about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds you’d know they troll each other constantly and have similar senses of humor. Clearly Blake was in on the joke,’ one person wrote on X.

Another disagreed, ‘Blake was shocked by Ryan’s comeback when he said “what have you heard.”‘

A relationship expert has weighed in on the awkward joke made by Ryan Reynoldsand Tina Fey during SNL50 about Blake Lively‘s ongoing lawsuit – and what to do if you ever find yourself in a similar situation with a partner.
